Catalytic Methane Splittin
HyCarb is a visionary deep-tech company that developed a disruptive new technology to produce low-cost clean hydrogen – if from NG, it has no CO2 emissions, but if from BioMethane, it has a negative CO2 footprint – and metal-free graphitic carbon using a patented intermediate-temperature catalytic methane splitting (IT-CMS) technology.

The innovative catalytic reactor operates at 750 °C and 1 bar, uses widely available materials and has a low CAPEX; – High energy density, low maintenance, cost-effective plants that can be easily installed and licensed; – Highly replicable, modular and scalable solutions that enable decentralized clean H2 production.
CO2 Fixation
Reaction 100 % selective and COx-free emissions; – Negative carbon balance when biomethane or biogas is used as feedstock, closing the cycle: atmospheric CO2 + photosynthesis -> biomass ->biomethane -> H2 + C); – Solid carbon can be used in applications that assure permanent sequestration.
Economically Competitive
Enables using available gas storage and distribution infrastructure; – Produces high-value metal-free graphitic carbon nanofilaments with tailored particle sizes and with a market price >> 1 €/kg; – Low CAPEX and OPEX: decarbonized hydrogen at <2 €/kg.
